New Jersey Devils at Buffalo Sabres

This is an extremely tough game to pick because both teams are full of talent, struggling, and both desperate for a win. I still believe the Devils are going to be one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference this year, but right now they're really in a tough situation that only allows them to play three forward lines.

Washington Capitols at New York Islanders

The Islanders play a tenacious style that constantly pressures the puck, but they don't have the talent on the back end to stop the Capitals high potent offense. If the Islanders want to keep pace in this game, they're going to have to control the puck and pressure the Capitals defense. I'm sure the Capitals will be heavy favorites in this game, but I like the play on the total more.

Vancouver Caunucks at Anaheim Ducks

This Ducks team is shades of its former self and the defensive holes have looked way too much to overcome this season. Hiller is good but has no support from his defense and they aren't putting any pucks in the net. Meanwhile the Canucks are hungry and have 3 solid scoring lines highlighted by the top line of the Sedins and Samuelsson. Expect the big 3 to go off tonight as the Canucks spoil the Ducks home opener.
